About
Matthew 25:40
“Whatsoever you did for the least of my brethren you did for me.”
The Arenia Edwards Community Development Corporation (“AECDC”) is an organization that seeks to transform communities one person/family at a time and was formed to continue the legacy of Arenia Edwards. She made it her life’s mission to assist low-income families in Houston, Harris County area.
Arenia’s social mission was to fight for the rights of the poor and forgotten. She worked tirelessly, for many years, with the Welfare Rights Organization and Legal Aid. She founded M.O.M., Inc. (Mothers on the Move) to aid the deprived citizens of Houston. Her mission led her to work hand in hand with many noted politicians such as the late Barbara Jordan, the late Mickey Leland, County Commissioner El Franco Lee, Judge Dale Gorcynski, and Judge David Patronella and many others to help reform local and state legislation regarding support for the underprivileged.
AECDC seeks to address income inequality, institutional recidivism, institutional inclusion, and criminal justice reform in low-income and communities of color. The organization will continue to represent and promote the rights of marginalized groups.
